FOUNDRY & FACILITIES
Within our 28,000 square feet of production area, our comprehensive facilities include the extensive tube bending capabilities, modern welding and fabrication plant and our own foundry capable of producing carbon, stainless steel and non ferrous castings.
Our foundry operates the latest EPA and COSHH regulations. It is compliant in every respect with the necessary control equipment. The production layout was specified and installed in conjuction with the Casting Technology International Centre's assistance.
Moulds are produced on two lines serviced by sand mixers operating on an alkaline phenolic binder system. Two 600kg induction furnaces can provide a heat every one and half hours for a variety of stainless and carbon steel compositions.
Three other furnaces are used for non ferrous casting production, and the more specialist steel alloys that are required in smaller batch quantities.
Fettling utilises arc-air and abrasive cut-off for head removal with snag grinding and fettling booths for final finishing. In-house heat treatment is provided by an electric furnace with programmable heating and forced air cooling cycles.
To date, recent changes to production areas has proved extremely successful with substantial improvement in output whilst retaining the same manning levels as before, a testimony to the more efficient layout.
Gabriel & Co have now upgraded its sand reclamation facility which should further improve the foundry's environmental image by reducing raw material and dumping costs.
