Gabriel Co Foundry

The foundry

Gabriel & Company Limited is one of the country's leading independent alloy steel foundries, specialising in stainless steel casting production. We are fully committed to providing quality and service to our customers.

Moulds are produced on two lines serviced by 6x4 tph mixers operating on an alkaline phenolic binder system. Two 600kg induction furnaces can provide a heat every one and half hours for a variety of stainless and carbon steel compositions. Three smaller furnaces have just been installed to cater for the more exotic alloys and non ferrous materials.

Fettling utilises arc-air and abrasive cut-off for head removal with snag grinding and fettling booths for final finishing. In-house heat treatment is provided by an electric furnace with programmable heating and forced air cooling cycles. Other facilities include modern analysis and testing equipment.

To date, the relocation has proved extremely successful with substantial improvement in output whilst retaining the same manning levels as before, a testimony to the more efficient layout. Gabriel & Co have now implemented its sand reclamation facility which should further improve the foundry's environmental image by reducing raw material and dumping costs.

It should be mentioned that, as new location, this foundry has been subject to all the latest EPA and COSHH regulations. It is compliant in every respect, as the necessary control equipment was specified and installed under The Casting Technology International Centre's guidance.

Gabriel stainless and alloy steel castings are widely used throughout the food processing, off shore oil, petrochemical and nuclear industries. Their reliability has been proved in many varied and critical applications.

Our products

Gabriel Co ProductsMoulds and cores are made by chemically bonded sand or shell moulding processes depending on the size, shape, complexity and quantity of the castings involved.
We make castings weighing between 0.5 and 800kg sand moulding and 0.1 to 15kg by shell moulding.
Our computerised methoding systems ensure that sound and accurate castings are produced to meet your requirements.

Castings are generally supplied fully heat treated in accordance with relevant specifications, and proof machining is also available.

Quality control

Quality control is vital in a modern foundry. Production is continuously monitored to ensure compliance with quality standard ISO 9001 2000. Samples of every melt are analysed on our computerised spectrograph, and fully traceability of casting is assured. All castings are inspected before despatch, and non destructive testing and certification is available if required.

Close control of all manufacturing operations ensures that our stainless steel castings have a good surface free from defects. All orders are subject to contract review, so that your requirements are fully understood before we commence production.

Prompt and reliable deliveries are important to our customers. We monitor our success in meeting despatch deadlines.
